What “K3 Approved” Really Means at Doodlebugs
If you’ve been around Doodlebugs for a while, you’ve probably seen us say something is “K3 Approved.”
But I realized recently… I’ve never really explained what that means.
And honestly? It means everything to me.
Because before Doodlebugs was a boutique, it was just me—a tired mom trying to figure things out the hard way.
Trying to find pajamas that didn’t cause meltdowns because of seams.
Trying to find toys that actually got used instead of tossed aside after five minutes.
Trying to find products that were worth the money when every dollar mattered.
Trying to buy things that made life easier… not harder.
When you’re parenting kids with sensory needs, autism, anxiety, medical complexities—or honestly, just kids in general—you become very aware of how exhausting it is to constantly buy things that don’t work.
The pajamas they refuse to wear.
The “sensory toy” that breaks instantly.
The blanket they hate the texture of.
The shoes that looked great online but caused tears the second they went on.
And after a while, it starts to feel defeating.
Not because it’s “just clothes” or “just toys.”
But because every failed purchase feels like one more thing on an already overflowing plate.
That’s where K3 comes in.
K3 stands for my three kids: Kirk, Karson, and Kira.
Before something becomes a favorite at Doodlebugs… it usually becomes a favorite in our home first.
My kids test it.
Sleep with it.
Carry it everywhere.
Reject it.
Love it.
Fight over it.
Use it in real life—not in a perfectly curated commercial kind of way, but in the messy, beautiful chaos of everyday family life.
If a pair of bamboo pajamas survives bedtime with sensory-sensitive kids and still gets requested again the next night? That matters.
If a toy actually keeps little hands busy during appointments, long car rides, or while you’re just trying to cook dinner without someone climbing the counters? That matters.
If a blanket becomes the one thing your child reaches for every single night when they need comfort? That matters too.
K3 Approved doesn’t mean something is trendy.
It means it’s been loved here first.
It means I carry products I would genuinely recommend to another exhausted mom who just wants something dependable for once.
Because I know what it feels like to take a chance on another product hoping this one will finally help… only to end up disappointed again.
And I never want Doodlebugs to feel like that.
I want it to feel like walking into a friend’s house who says:
“Here. We tried this. It actually helped.”
That’s the heart behind everything we do here.
Not perfection.
Not pressure.
Just thoughtfully chosen products from one mom to another—because when something truly works for your child, it can change so much more than just your day.
And those little wins?
They matter more than most people realize.
